Navigant Credit Union Opens First Branch in Providence

West River Street location serves as Navigant’s 25th branch in Rhode Island; result of completed merger with Postal Government Employees Federal Credit Union.

For the first time in its more than 108-year history in Rhode Island’s business community, Navigant Credit Union officially has a physical presence in the state’s capital city.

Navigant Credit Union joined Providence Mayor Brett Smiley, staff members, Chamber of Commerce leaders and other community partners from across the state on Wednesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of its Providence branch. Located at 179 West River Street, this is Navigant Credit Union’s first-ever branch location in the City of Providence and its 25th location in Rhode Island.

“As we continue our strategic effort to grow our presence across the state of Rhode Island, we couldn’t be more excited to open the doors at our new Providence branch” said Navigant Credit Union President & CEO Kathleen C. Orovitz. “Our team is ready to close out 2023 strong and welcome new, Providence-based members to our growing Navigant Credit Union community in 2024 and beyond.”

Navigant Credit Union’s new Providence branch location is the result of a completed merger with the former Postal Government Employees Federal Credit Union (PGEFCU), the plans of which were first announced in June. As of December, all former PGEFCU members who opted to keep their accounts at Navigant Credit Union have been successfully converted to Navigant Credit Union’s systems.

Providing a layer of continuity at the new branch, day-to-day operations at Navigant Credit Union’s Providence branch will be led by Branch Manager Michelle Colaneri, who joined the Navigant team following a more than 20-year career at PGEFCU.

Business hours for the Providence branch will be Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. The branch will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.
