SMITHFIELD, R.I. (February 6, 2023) – Navigant Credit Union announced today it has hired financial services industry veteran Michael Mattone to serve as its Senior Vice President/Chief Retail Banking & Experience Officer.
Mattone joins Navigant Credit Union with over 15 years of diverse experience in the banking sector, most recently serving as the Vice President of Community Impact at Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union in Kingston, N.Y, where he led efforts related to branch expansion and transformation, financial literacy, and small business development. He also served as the Vice President of Marketing & Member Experience at Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union in Mohegan Lake, N.Y. and as Vice President of Public Relations at Municipal Credit Union in New York City.
In his new role as Chief Retail Banking & Experience Officer, Mattone will be responsible for overseeing the operations of all of Navigant Credit Union’s retail banking channels, including expansion initiatives, branch administration, contact center, marketing, NCU Wealth Management and more. As a member of the Executive Management team, Mattone will also play a critical role in identifying short- and long-term strategies, policies and procedures that will advance Navigant Credit Union’s mission.

Throughout his career in New York, Mattone was an active member of the business and philanthropic communities. He served as Chair of the New York Credit Union Association’s Young Professionals Commission and Treasurer of both the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce and Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill. He has also served as a board member for the Town of Yorktown’s Community Housing Board.
Mattone earned his B.A. in Marketing from Pace University and his Master’s in Finance from Baruch University, graduating as his cohort’s valedictorian. Mattone is in the process of relocating to Rhode Island with his wife and two sons.
