Meet 3 simple reward rate criteria per qualification cycle: 1) 12 Debit Card Purchases must post and settle each qualification cycle; 2) Have 1 Direct Deposit or Automatic Payment post and settle per qualification cycle; 3) Access Online Banking and Enroll to Receive Electronic Statements. ATM-processed transactions do not count towards qualifying debit card transactions. Tier examples - Tier 1 - balances up to $20,000 receive APY of 1.25%; and Tier 2 - balances over $20,000 earn 0.345% interest rate on portion of balance over $20,000, resulting in 0.50% -1.25% APY depending on the balance. If qualifications are not met all account balances receive 0.05% APY. *ATM fee refunds up to $25 per qualification cycle.

This free checking account is like a financial tutor, allowing students to learn how to responsibly manage and access their money. All it takes is $10.00 to open an account, with rebate ATM fees up to $25.00 a month and one NSF-fee (Non-Sufficient Funds) refund a year.
Students 13-17 years old require a parent or guardian as a joint owner on the account. When a student turns 25 years old, the account will automatically switch to a free Journey Rewards Checking account or an equivalent account type offered at that time.
