Yes, you can set the same PIN number by calling our secure setup line at 1 (866) 661-8548 and and press 2 to enter in your four-digit pin. But your current VISA PINs will not automatically carry over to your new Mastercard.
Merchants may request a PIN for MasterCard transactions, but not for Visa transactions, mainly because of differences in transaction fees set by card processors. Using a PIN can lower transaction fees by reducing fraud risk for the processor. This approach may also encourage customers to use debit cards, which typically have lower processing costs than credit cards. Additionally, some merchants require a PIN to enhance security, particularly in environments where privacy may be limited.
It’s important for consumers to be aware of these practices and to consider the security implications of using a PIN for credit card transactions. While some merchants may not require a PIN, it is generally advisable to use a PIN for added security, especially when making larger purchases or when using debit cards.
Please be advised that this matter is beyond our control, as it pertains to the network.
