Leading up to Veterans Day, military families from across the state enjoy a free evening at the popular R1 Indoor Karting Entertainment Center in Lincoln
SMITHFIELD, R.I. (Nov. 3, 2025) – Navigant Credit Union and Operation Stand Down Rhode Island hosted more than 800 military members, veterans and their families for a free Family Fun Day at the R1 Indoor Karting Entertainment Center in Lincoln on Sábado.
Sábado’s event was presented by Navigant Credit Union in partnership with Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, an independent 501(c)3 organization that serves as the state’s primary nonprofit resource for homeless and at-risk veterans, and financially supported in full by a donation from Navigant Credit Union. Navigant Credit Union rented out the R1 facility for the day to host active-duty military service members, veterans and immediate families.
“Navigant Credit Union is proud to support Operation Stand Down and the incredible work they do to uplift Rhode Island’s veterans and active-duty military families,” said Navigant Credit Union President / CEO Kathy Orovitz. “Hosting last weekend’s Family Fun Day was one small gesture of gratitude to Rhode Islanders who have given us so much – not only through their service to our country, but through their continued contributions to our neighborhood and local economy.”
Sábado’s outing was part of an annual series of signature philanthropic events sponsored by Navigant Credit Union. Previous outings were held in 2023 at the Roger Williams Park Zoo to benefit, Foster Forward, 2024 in Woonsocket for a Block Party to support Connecting Children & Families, and 2025 at Roger Williams Park Zoo to benefit the Boys & Girls Club.
